The goal was to create a highly immersive, generative storytelling application that would not only plunge players into a bespoke gothic narrative but also provide a seamless multimodal experience, showcasing advanced AI capabilities by generating dynamic text, imagery, and audio simultaneously.

This project involved the complete architecture and development of a dynamic, five-chapter interactive fiction engine powered by Google's Vertex AI. The goal was to create a dark, engaging experience that reflects a commitment to rapid generation, multimodal AI integration, and personalized narrative design, while also offering a frictionless, non-blocking user interface.

The architecture was inspired by the complex requirements of real-time generative media, utilizing a robust Next.js 16 stack paired with a suite of Gemini models. I focused on a parallel, non-blocking design that emphasizes immediate text rendering while heavy media generation occurs seamlessly in the background. AI-generated illustrations match the player's chosen art style, while ambient, genre-aware scoring evokes a deep sense of atmosphere and immersion.
The application was built using modern full-stack technologies to ensure rapid deployment and state persistence. I implemented a comprehensive backend system integrating Cloud Storage and Firestore, which allows the application to save user progress, archive completed tales, and generate shareable links. The experience culminates in a fully automated Grand Finale featuring text-to-speech narration, providing a cinematic conclusion across all devices.
